Who this is for

Adolescents and adults aged 12 and over with mild to moderate acne who want a clinical assessment and honest conversation about their options — including what's available on prescription, where that's appropriate.

Severe acne, acne with significant scarring, or acne that has already failed multiple treatments is best assessed by a GP or dermatologist. We'll tell you if that's what we think at consultation, and we'll refer you.

  • Adolescents from age 12 (with parent or guardian)
  • Adults with mild to moderate acne
  • People wanting an honest clinical assessment of their options
  • Those who want to discuss prescription treatment without a GP appointment

Common questions

Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly. Our prescribing pharmacist can assess, advise and prescribe at the same appointment for mild to moderate acne.
Will I be prescribed something at the first appointment?
Not automatically. The first consultation involves a full clinical assessment. The pharmacist may discuss options including lifestyle and over-the-counter products first. Prescription treatment is considered where it's clinically appropriate and the best course of action for your skin.
Is it suitable for teenagers?
Yes — the service is suitable from age 12. Under-18s should attend with a parent or guardian. The consultation is confidential, and we treat younger patients with the same professionalism as adults.
How long until improvement?
This varies considerably depending on the type of acne, its causes, and the approach taken. Your pharmacist will give you an honest indication at consultation. Most approaches require consistent use over several weeks before results become visible — we won't give timelines we can't stand behind.
What if treatment isn't suitable for me?
If prescription treatment isn't appropriate after assessment, we'll tell you why and give you clear, honest guidance on next steps. Severe acne, acne with scarring, or acne that hasn't responded to previous treatment should be assessed by a GP or dermatologist — we'll refer you if that's the right call.
