NHS services are free at the point of use to all eligible patients in Scotland. Standard NHS prescription charges apply where medicines are dispensed (most patients in Scotland are exempt).
Weight management pricing does not include the cost of any prescription medicines. Those are prescribed and dispensed separately at standard NHS prescription rates if clinically appropriate.
What the consultation fee covers
A consultation fee covers the clinical assessment — not guaranteed treatment or supply. Whether treatment is clinically appropriate is always the prescribing pharmacist's decision.
For vaccination appointments, the consultation and vaccine administration are included in the price. Vaccine costs are bundled in.
If after an assessment we refer you on (to a GP, dermatologist, or another service), you are not charged for the consultation. Assessment and referral are part of the same service.
