When to use this form

Use this form when:

  • You have a regular prescription and would like Muirend Pharmacy to request and dispense it on your behalf
  • You are not already signed up for managed repeats
  • You are not in a hurry — this process takes 3–5 working days
  • Your GP practice is set up for repeat prescriptions (most are)

Prefer ongoing support? If you take the same medicines every month, our managed repeats service handles everything automatically. You only sign up once.

What happens next

We receive your request

Your form arrives with us immediately. We check the details and prepare the GP request.

We contact your GP

We send a repeat prescription request to your GP practice. Most practices process these within 2–3 working days.

We dispense when it arrives

Once your GP issues the prescription, we dispense and check your medication.

We text you to collect

You'll receive an SMS when your prescription is ready — or out for delivery if you chose that option.

Common questions

How long does it take?
Typically 3–5 working days from when we receive your request to when your prescription is ready. This depends on how quickly your GP issues the prescription — we cannot speed up the GP side, but we dispense promptly once it arrives.
What if my GP needs a review before issuing the prescription?
If your GP requires a review appointment before issuing the next repeat, they'll contact you directly. We'll let you know if we receive a query rather than a prescription.
Will I be charged?
Standard NHS prescription charges apply if you are not exempt. There is no administration fee from Muirend Pharmacy. If you're not sure whether you're exempt, ask us when you collect.
What if I made a mistake on the form?
Call us on 0141 637 2014 as soon as you notice. We'll correct the record before we send the request to your GP.
Should I sign up for managed repeats instead?
If you take the same medicines every month, yes — managed repeats are more efficient for everyone. This form is for occasional one-off requests. If you'd like to discuss switching, mention it when you call or visit.
